Taking Care of Your Car During a Pandemic

You’re not driving your car daily anymore.

Your car hasn’t been used at all for a few weeks maybe months due to the Covid Pandemic.

The question many of our customers are asking is if they should be servicing their vehicles even though they will just stay parked in the garage? The answer is YES.

Everyone was affected by the Covid-19 Pandemic, and forced to quarantine. Many of us haven’t gone back to our offices or other work spaces, leading to less car usage. But what actually happens to our vehicles if they are just sitting in our driveways for long periods at a time?

The most inconvenient thing that could happen is that your car battery dies. Regular usage allows your battery to maintain a charge and store energy to restart the car when needed. We recommend that you drive your car at least for 30 minutes once a week to maintain your battery’s life.

It is helpful to schedule an inspection every six months to ensure your car is being kept in good condition. This inspection should include checking your tire condition, filters, damage caused by rodents, and top off all your fluids.

These inspections will help prevent costly repairs and maintain your vehicle in the proper working conditions for when it’s time to hit the road again.

Having our cars sitting around in the garage or driveway may not be of great concern at first thought. But we do encourage that you are still constantly checking your vehicle even if you don’t feel the need for a professional inspection.

This pandemic has brought on a unique set of challenges, and forces us to rethink how we manage our daily routines now. In case of emergency, we want to be sure we can rely on our vehicles.
